APC National Chairman Says Northern Support for Tinubu Needed Ahead of 2027

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has said supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections is important for the Northern region, Yilwatda said on Thursday during a rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Yilwatda made the comments at a solidarity rally organised to recognise infrastructure development and political leaders, including Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.

The rally took place as political activities increase ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, particularly discussions within the ruling party about election preparedness and regional support.

The APC national chairman commended Tinubu’s administration for federal projects and capacity‑building efforts in the North.

He said such initiatives included major road infrastructure connecting regions and rail lines intended to enhance trade and mobility.

Yilwatda said the road from Sokoto to Badagry and the rail line linking Abuja to Kano and onward to the Niger Republic would have economic benefits for the Northern region.

He said these projects would support import and export activities in the area.

At the rally, Yilwatda said the administration’s work in the North justified support for Tinubu’s 2027 re‑election efforts, noting the importance of continuity for ongoing federal projects he mentioned.

He also spoke about developmental work in Nasarawa State, including infrastructure across local government areas.

Yilwatda said: “Mr. President has shown that Nigeria can be one. Mr. President has shown that Nigeria can be inclusive. He has shown that the government can be resolute. That is why we are here.”

He added: “Supporting Mr. President is a must for the North because of what he has laid, what he is doing, and what he will do for the entire region.”

Yilwatda’s remarks reflect the APC leadership’s efforts to mobilise support within Nigeria’s northern region ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Statements from political figures in key regions are part of broader election‑season engagement, as parties seek to build coalitions and regional backing for presidential candidates.
