The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has pledged to conduct a hitch‑free electronic membership registration, targeting at least 350,000 registered members by the conclusion of the ongoing exercise on January 30, 2026.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in Ibadan by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare.
In a statement released in the state capital, Sadare expressed optimism about the success of the exercise, noting that earlier challenges related to logistics and supply were overcome by party officials.
He said the APC leadership in the state demonstrated “energy and passion” comparable to that shown during stakeholders’ meetings held across the state.
Sadare said the APC’s renewed registration drive is part of a nationwide initiative by the party, aimed at building a comprehensive database of existing and new members through an electronic registration system being implemented across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
He stated that the Oyo APC initially encountered delays that prevented it from starting on the same day as other state chapters, but efforts to resolve those issues have enabled the state to proceed effectively.
“We could not start the registration exercise on the same day with most of the state chapters because there were some challenges which revolved around logistics, supply and a few other things. But we turned things around and we were able to overcome all the challenges,” Sadare said.
Sadare expressed confidence that the party would achieve its membership target by the end of January. He emphasised that hitting the 350,000 mark would help the APC maximise its organisational strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the party plans to use its membership strength to mobilise voters and reclaim political power in the state.
According to him, the 2023 general election saw the APC in Oyo record 449,884 votes for President Bola Tinubu, and the party now aims to increase that figure by about 40 per cent in the upcoming elections.
He said the registration exercise would help in voter mobilisation and broad engagement with residents across the state’s 33 local government areas.
Sadare called on all residents aged 18 years and above to participate by visiting registration centres with their National Identification Number (NIN), Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and other valid personal information.
He said this would enable participants to fully engage in APC activities and align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The exercise, seen as part of broader political mobilisation, underscores efforts by the APC to strengthen its grassroots presence and organisational capacity ahead of the next general elections in Nigeria.
