Bauchi Governor Relieves Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs

Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has relieved Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Galadima of his position as Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, the state government said on Tuesday.

The announcement came as part of a minor adjustment in the composition of the Bauchi State Executive Council, communicated in a statement issued by Mukhtar Gidado, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

Bauchi State operates under a cabinet system in which commissioners oversee various ministries and report to the governor. Changes in these positions are made through executive decisions by the governor.

The statement said Governor Mohammed approved the reshuffle, which included relieving Galadima of his duties with immediate effect.

The governor expressed appreciation for Galadima’s contributions during his tenure as commissioner.

A replacement for the position has not yet been announced, according to the statement.

The statement issued by the governor’s office said: “His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON, Fnipr (Kauran Daular Usmaniyya), the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, has approved a minor change in the composition of his cabinet.

In that respect, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Galadima, has been relieved of his appointment as a member of the State Executive Council with immediate effect.”

The removal of a key security portfolio commissioner occurs as state governments continue to manage their executive teams ahead of the 2027 general elections, although no specific policy shifts were referenced in the state statement.

Cabinet adjustments by governors are part of routine governance practice in Nigerian states as administrations review appointments to align with administrative priorities.
