Keyamo Says APC Not Made of Saints But Better Than PDP

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not a party of saints but is a better option than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mr. Keyamo made the statement in a post on the social media platform X on Saturday.

The APC and PDP are the two major political parties in Nigeria. The APC was formed in 2013 from a merger of several opposition parties and later won the presidency in 2015.

Political discourse has included comparisons between the parties on governance and plans for future elections.

Mr. Keyamo addressed comments attributed to him from a 2017 interview that he said had been taken out of context.

He wrote that the unedited part of the 2017 interview emphasised his view that no political party is free of flaws and that the APC offers better prospects for Nigeria.

In the X post, Mr. Keyamo said that declaring any political party to be composed of saints would be unwise.

He added that on balance the APC holds what he described as the best hope for the country and referenced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision not to join the PDP during its earlier years.

Mr. Keyamo wrote, “This is the unedited part of the interview I granted a blog in 2017 (nine years ago) emphasising that APC may not be a Party of saints (which, I repeat, is a matter of fact), BUT it is still far better than where we were coming from.”

He also said, “And today, I repeat it again, I will be a fool to say APC is a Party of saints. And anyone who declares any Party to which he/she belongs as a Party of saints will also be a fool.”

Mr. Keyamo added, “But, on the balance, the APC still holds the best hope for the country and we cannot return to the era of PDP where you had some of the characters who are running for President today.”

He further stated, “It was only Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT that never hopped onto that battered train of PDP at that time.”

Mr. Keyamo’s comments contribute to ongoing national political discourse ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Statements by senior political figures about party positioning are part of public debate on governance and electoral choice.
