A senior member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ladi Adebutu, has formally announced his entry into the Ogun State governorship race for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made during a political mobilisation event in Abeokuta where party supporters and stakeholders were present.
Ogun State is preparing for the 2027 governorship election, with various political actors indicating interest in securing their parties’ nominations.
The PDP, one of Nigeria’s major political parties, is expected to organise primary elections to select its candidate for the governorship contest. Adebutu’s declaration adds to a growing field of aspirants within the party.
Mr. Adebutu said his decision to contest reflects a commitment to public service and a desire to contribute to the socio‑economic development of Ogun State.
At the event, he outlined education, infrastructure and healthcare as priority areas for his prospective administration should he secure the PDP nomination and later the governorship.
Supporters at the rally expressed confidence in Adebutu’s leadership credentials and ability to unite diverse constituencies across the state. The aspirant also engaged with party stakeholders to build consensus ahead of the party’s primary process.
At the event, Adebutu said: “I am committed to the progress of Ogun State and will work with all stakeholders to build a more prosperous and inclusive future for every resident.”
Adebutu’s declaration signals continued political activity and contestation within the Peoples Democratic Party as parties gear up for the 2027 general elections.
His entry highlights the competitive nature of governorship aspirant races in key states and the strategic positioning of political figures ahead of primary elections.
