Senate Finance Committee Chairman Applauds Tinubu for Approving Reconstruction of Suleja–Minna Road

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the reconstruction of the long‑delayed Suleja–Minna Road, describing the decision as a landmark intervention in critical infrastructure, the senator said on Thursday.

Musa represents the Niger East Senatorial District in the Senate. In a statement he personally signed on Wednesday, the senator said the approval for reconstruction of the federal road underscores the administration’s focus on addressing infrastructural deficits nationwide under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Suleja–Minna Road is a federal highway linking Niger State with the Federal Capital Territory and parts of the North‑Central and northern regions.

The road has been in poor condition for years, raising concerns among commuters, traders and transporters.

In his statement, Musa said the approval reflects responsive leadership and commitment by the Federal Government to ease transportation challenges.

He noted that the road serves as a vital economic and strategic link for Nigerians, and that reconstruction is expected to improve safety, reduce travel time and enhance regional connectivity.

Musa also commended the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, for advocacy and engagement with federal authorities that contributed to attaining the approval for the project.

He said the collaboration between federal and state governments reflects a shared vision for infrastructure renewal and development.

The senator reassured residents of his constituency of his continued commitment to advocating for projects that will positively impact their welfare. He pledged sustained collaboration to ensure tangible benefits reach local communities.

In his statement, Musa said the Suleja–Minna Road “is a critical federal highway of significant economic and strategic importance to Niger State and the country at large.”

He added, “With this decisive approval by Mr. President, a new chapter of safety, economic growth and regional integration is set to unfold.”

Approval of the Suleja–Minna Road reconstruction aligns with recent Federal Executive Council decisions on major road projects across the country, as part of efforts to strengthen national transport infrastructure.

The reconstruction is expected to enhance connectivity between the Federal Capital Territory and northern regions and may support increased trade and economic activities along the corridor.
