Ogun State Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele has picked the APC nomination form to contest the Ogun West Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections. The move formally confirms her intention to join the race under the All Progressives Congress. Her decision to obtain the APC nomination form places her among early contenders positioning within the party’s evolving structure.

Political realignments within the Ogun State chapter of the APC have intensified following recent consensus arrangements among party stakeholders. The endorsement of Governor Dapo Abiodun for the Ogun East senatorial seat has shifted attention to other districts.

Within this context, the emergence of aspirants in Ogun West has become more pronounced, especially following the decision by Salako-Oyedele to obtain the APC nomination form as part of early preparations for the elections. The development reflects broader internal party dynamics as aspirants seek to secure political backing ahead of the primaries.

According to a statement released by the deputy governor, she has officially obtained the required forms to contest the senatorial seat.

She said: “This step marks the continuation of a journey already rooted in service, guided by clarity of purpose, and strengthened by the trust and support of Ogun indigenes, especially the Ogun West Senatorial District.”

The decision follows a stakeholders’ meeting held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, where party leaders discussed consensus arrangements. Reports indicate that the process generated mixed reactions among party members.

The acquisition of the APC nomination form is considered a formal step in the party’s candidate selection process, signalling readiness to participate in the primaries. Other aspirants reportedly interested in the Ogun West seat include former senator Gbolahan Dada, Waliu Taiwo, and Jimoh Ojugbele, indicating that the primary contest may attract multiple contenders.

The move by Salako-Oyedele to secure the APC nomination form highlights increasing political activity within the party as the 2027 elections approach. Early participation in the nomination process often reflects strategic positioning among aspirants.

The development also draws attention to representation dynamics in Ogun State, particularly regarding female participation in the Senate. Political observers note that the process leading up to the primaries will play a key role in determining the final candidate for the senatorial seat.
