APC Names 108-Man Presidential Campaign Council for 2027 Poll

The Presidency has released the 108-member APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, with President Bola Tinubu appointed chairman and Vice President Kashim Shettima serving as vice chairman. The list was announced on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) begins preparations for the January 2027 presidential election.

Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was named Director-General of the campaign, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as secretary. APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda was appointed vice chairman, while Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as deputy secretary and assistant secretary respectively.

The campaign chairman, President Tinubu, will be supported by a group of senior advisers comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy director-generals for the southern and northern parts of the country.

They will work alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau. Senator Adams Oshiomhole was named deputy director-general for mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration as deputy director-general.

James Abiodun Faleke, who served a prominent role in the 2022/2023 campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring. Faleke will coordinate with zonal directors including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.

Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the legal directorate, supported by Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members of the legal team include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

The media and strategic communication directorate will be coordinated by Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris Malagi, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors. Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor were appointed coordinating secretaries.

Segun Dada will head the New Media Directorate, a role he previously held during the 2022 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as secretary. The campaign also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. The other spokespersons are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

According to Onanuga, President Tinubu has directed members of the campaign council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 election.

The President also urged directorate leaders to involve other party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign. Onanuga quoted Tinubu as saying the administration had delivered on its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on a path of economic progress.

“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians,” Tinubu said.

He further urged the campaign team to highlight the administration’s achievements during the election season.

“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet, let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation. Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards,” he said.

The formation of the council formally establishes the APC’s central campaign structure as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
