The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports that it withdrew its APC campaign council list for the 2027 presidential election, describing the reports as rumours.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the clarification on Tuesday morning following reports that the list recently released by the ruling party had been withdrawn. Morka, in a brief response to TheCable, said the APC had not announced any withdrawal of the campaign council’s composition and would formally communicate any changes if they occurred.

“It’s rumour. If there is any change to the list, it will be formally announced,” Morka said.

The clarification followed reports circulating that the APC had withdrawn the list of members appointed to its Presidential Campaign Council as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

The party had recently announced the composition of the council, with President Bola Tinubu seeking re-election under the APC. The campaign structure generated reactions among party members and stakeholders, particularly over the inclusion and exclusion of some political figures.

Those reactions subsequently fuelled speculation that the party could alter the composition of the council. However, the latest statement from the APC publicity secretary indicates that no official decision to withdraw the list has been communicated by the party.

Morka’s comments also establish the position of the party on any potential changes to the campaign structure. According to him, the APC would formally announce any alteration rather than rely on reports circulating outside its official communication channels. The clarification comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election continue to intensify, with the APC expected to mobilise its structures across the country in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The Presidential Campaign Council is expected to coordinate various aspects of the ruling party’s election campaign, including mobilisation, communications, legal affairs and election planning. For now, the party maintains that the previously announced campaign council list remains in place, with any future adjustment expected to be formally communicated by the APC.
