Ekiti PDP agenda unveiled as governorship candidate presents 10-point plan

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State has unveiled a PDP agenda built around a 10-point development plan targeting infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment, healthcare, education, and economic growth ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The presentation of the Ekiti PDP agenda comes as political parties intensify preparations for the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for 2026.

Ekiti politics has remained highly competitive between the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, with governance performance and economic development expected to dominate campaign discussions. The PDP candidate’s policy presentation is part of broader efforts by political parties to define campaign priorities and attract voter support ahead of party mobilisation across the state.

During the presentation of the Ekiti PDP agenda, the governorship candidate outlined a 10-point programme designed to address economic challenges and improve public service delivery across the state. The agenda reportedly includes priorities in infrastructure development, agricultural expansion, healthcare improvement, education reform, youth employment, security, and support for small businesses.

The candidate stated that agriculture would receive significant attention through programmes aimed at increasing food production, supporting farmers, and strengthening agro-based economic activities within rural communities. According to him, the Ekiti PDP agenda also places emphasis on youth empowerment through vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and employment generation initiatives intended to reduce unemployment among young people.

He further highlighted plans to improve healthcare facilities and educational institutions while expanding access to social services across local government areas. Infrastructure development, including roads and public utilities, was also identified as a major component of the policy direction presented during the event.

The candidate stated that the proposed programmes are intended to improve living conditions, strengthen economic productivity, and enhance governance delivery in Ekiti State. The unveiling of the Ekiti PDP agenda attracted party supporters and political stakeholders who attended the event ahead of intensified political activities linked to the 2026 governorship contest.

The introduction of the agenda signals the beginning of issue-based political positioning ahead of the governorship election.

Political analysts note that campaign discussions are likely to focus heavily on economic development, infrastructure, education, and youth opportunities as parties compete for voter support. The development also reflects increasing attention on policy-driven campaigns and governance proposals within state-level elections.
