Osun Election: APC Secretary Basiru Delivers Polling Unit to Oyebamiji

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has delivered his polling unit to the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the ongoing Osun State governorship election. Oyebamiji secured 177 votes at Polling Unit 003, Alagba, Osogbo, where Basiru cast his ballot. The APC candidate defeated the incumbent Governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, who polled 60 votes.

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate, Najeem Salaam, secured three votes at the polling unit. Candidates of the Action Alliance, AA, Young Progressives Party, YPP, and Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, each recorded one vote. The result gave Oyebamiji a clear lead at the Osun polling unit, where the APC national secretary exercised his franchise. Basiru had earlier arrived at the polling centre with his wife, Abibat, and both cast their ballots.

After voting, the APC chieftain commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for what he described as the timely deployment of election personnel and materials across the state. He also praised voters for turning out in large numbers to participate in the election.

According to Basiru, the turnout reflected the commitment of residents to the democratic process and their determination to participate in choosing the next governor of the state. He also commended security agencies for maintaining what he described as a peaceful and orderly atmosphere at polling centres.

Basiru described the voting process at his polling centre as calm and hitch-free. He expressed optimism that the wider election would be conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.

The APC National Secretary also expressed confidence that Oyebamiji would emerge victorious at the end of the governorship contest. The result from his polling unit came as voting continued across Osun State, with attention shifting to the collation of results from polling units and subsequent declaration by the electoral commission.
