A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has installed new state executive committees in Bayelsa, Ekiti and Oyo States, the group announced on Sunday.
The installations, held simultaneously in the three states, follow ongoing internal disputes within the PDP over recognition of party leadership and factional alignments.
Representatives of the Wike‑aligned group officiated the events in respective state capitals, where officials were sworn in to lead the PDP apparatus in those states.
In Bayelsa State, the ceremony took place in Yenagoa, while Ekiti State’s installation was held in Ado‑Ekiti and Oyo State’s in Ibadan.
The faction said the newly installed executives would oversee PDP activities and mobilisation ahead of future political engagements.
The installations are part of ongoing organisational activities by the Wike‑aligned faction of the PDP, which maintains that it represents legitimate leadership structures within the party in several states.
The PDP has been experiencing internal leadership disputes at the national and state levels, with rival groups contesting recognition and authority over party structures since the 2025 national convention and related court rulings.
In Ekiti State, the group installed members of the state executive committee under the leadership of an appointed chairman selected by the Wike‑aligned faction.
In Bayelsa State, the event similarly saw officials take oaths of office for leadership roles within the party’s state structure.
In Oyo State, the faction maintained that its installation of executives complied with its interpretation of party regulations for organisational activities.
The faction said the installations were undertaken to strengthen the party’s operational presence in the respective states.
