The Kwara PDP candidate, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, has dismissed claims linking his 2027 governorship ambition to an alleged ritual-related video circulating on social media, describing the allegations as false and intended to mislead the public.
The clarification follows the circulation of a viral video allegedly involving one Alhaji Saheed Ishola, popularly known as LogunOfe, who was accused of making comments and engaging in activities purportedly connected to ritual sacrifice in relation to the 2027 governorship election.
In a statement issued by his media office on Saturday, Kawu denied having any relationship with the individual featured in the video or with the alleged activities attributed to him. The statement stressed that LogunOfe neither represents nor works for the PDP governorship candidate or his campaign organisation.
It further maintained that any attempt to associate Kawu with the individual or the alleged incident was misleading and should be disregarded. According to the media office, the governorship hopeful has never authorised anyone to make such statements or engage in activities on his behalf.
The clarification also comes after an earlier viral report alleged that some Peoples Democratic Party supporters visited a shrine in Ogun State to pray for the death of individuals opposed to the political ambitions of former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Bolakale Kawu.
While responding to the latest controversy, the media office insisted there was no connection between the Kwara PDP candidate and the claims circulating online. It described attempts to link Kawu to the allegations as part of a deliberate effort to tarnish his reputation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Reaffirming Kawu’s religious beliefs, the statement described him as a devoted Muslim whose faith is rooted in the worship of Almighty Allah alone.
It stated that he neither believes in nor practices ritual, fetish or diabolical activities, adding that he places his trust entirely in God’s will regarding political success. According to the media office, Kawu’s political ambition is driven by a commitment to public service rather than desperation for power.
The statement said the PDP governorship aspirant remains committed to pursuing a peaceful, issue-based campaign centred on integrity, respect for the rule of law and democratic values. It added that his vision for Kwara State focuses on improving security, restoring public confidence in government, promoting economic prosperity and delivering people-oriented leadership.
The media office urged members of the public to ignore attempts to associate the Kwara PDP candidate with the alleged ritual activities, insisting those behind the claims were pursuing their own agenda. It also reaffirmed Kawu’s commitment to conducting his campaign within the bounds of the law while respecting the democratic choices of the people of Kwara State.
