The ECOWAS graduate programme is now accepting applications from eligible young Nigerians and other citizens of member states for its 2027 Young Graduates Immersion Programme, offering participants a fully funded one-year professional placement across ECOWAS institutions and agencies.
The Economic Community of West African States announced the opportunity in a notice published on July 31, 2026, inviting young graduates to gain practical experience while contributing to regional integration initiatives across West Africa.
According to the regional bloc, the programme is designed to help young professionals develop advanced skills by working alongside experienced experts in various sectors.
ECOWAS said applicants must be citizens of any ECOWAS member state, including Nigeria. Interested candidates must also be 32 years old or younger and possess a degree in a relevant field obtained from a recognised institution.
Applications for the ECOWAS graduate programme opened on July 31, 2026, and will remain open until August 31, 2026. Eligible applicants are expected to complete their submissions through the official ECOWAS Young Graduates Immersion Programme portal.
Applicants are required to complete the online application process by following these steps: create an account and access the application form, fill in personal and contact information, provide academic and professional background details, upload required documents, including a degree certificate, curriculum vitae and motivation letter, review and validate all submitted information, submit the completed application.
ECOWAS said selected participants will spend one year working within its institutions and specialised agencies, contributing to projects that promote regional integration and development.
Successful candidates will benefit from: one year of professional experience within ECOWAS institutions, advanced training and personalised mentoring, leadership development opportunities, access to a network of regional and international experts.
According to the organisation, the initiative is aimed at preparing the next generation of African professionals while strengthening cooperation and sustainable development across ECOWAS member states. Young Nigerians who meet the eligibility requirements have until August 31 to complete their applications for the ECOWAS graduate programme.
