Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has received the report of the Jigawa APC reconciliation committee established to consult party aspirants and strengthen internal unity following the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries across the state. The committee was inaugurated on May 22, 2026, to mediate among aspirants, address grievances and foster harmony within the party as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
Presenting the report at the Government House in Dutse, Senator Muhammad Dudu, who represented committee chairman Isah Gerawa, commended Governor Namadi for initiating what he described as a unique reconciliation process.
According to Dudu, the committee visited all 27 local government areas of Jigawa State and met with more than 400 party stakeholders during its assignment. He noted that consultations involved aspirants who secured APC tickets as well as those who were unsuccessful in the primaries.
“This provided an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding, resolve differences, and thank them for their contributions to the development of the APC.”
Dudu added that, since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999, no administration in the state had undertaken a similar reconciliation exercise after party primaries.
Receiving the report, Governor Namadi praised the 15-member committee for its commitment to promoting peace within the party. He said he had received encouraging feedback on the committee’s activities even before the completion of its assignment, describing its efforts as instrumental in strengthening cohesion among APC members. The governor stressed that the party’s success in future elections depends on the collective contributions of all members.
“Everyone is important in achieving the goals of the APC.”
Governor Namadi urged the committee not to end its assignment with the submission of the report but to continue working towards lasting peace within the party. He appealed for the committee to remain active throughout the election period to sustain unity among party members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I’m appealing to you to continue this work until the general elections, so that the committee can continue to function as a standing committee to ensure lasting unity and peace in the party.”
The Jigawa APC reconciliation initiative reflects the party’s efforts to resolve post-primary disputes, strengthen internal cohesion and consolidate support ahead of the 2027 polls.
