SERAP Demands Akpabio Publish Names Linked to Alleged Missing N210trn or Face Legal Action

The Socio‑Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to publish the names of public officials alleged to be implicated in the purported missing N210 trillion or face legal action, the organisation said in a statement on Wednesday.

In the statement, SERAP said it had written to Akpabio, urging public disclosure of the names of individuals reportedly associated with the alleged missing funds drawn from various federal accounts.

The organisation said the information is necessary to uphold public accountability and transparency.

SERAP is a non‑governmental organisation that advocates for transparency, accountability and respect for socio‑economic rights in Nigeria.

The group’s demand follows reports in some media outlets alleging discrepancies in consolidated revenue and public accounts.

The organisation’s letter to the Senate President referenced concerns about what it described as “missing funds” from multiple federal revenue sources, including the Federal Government’s consolidated revenue fund and other treasury accounts.

SERAP said the alleged missing N210 trillion represents cumulative gaps identified by fiscal watchdogs and analysts.

In its communication, SERAP stated that public disclosure of the names of those implicated is essential to allow citizens to hold accountable any public officials linked to the alleged shortfalls.

The organisation added that it will consider legal steps if the requested information is not made public within a reasonable timeframe.

SERAP did not specify the exact nature of the legal action it may pursue but cited the need to enforce public accountability mechanisms.

SERAP’s Executive Director, Adetokunbo Mumuni, said: “The demand is not only for transparency, but also for institutional accountability and respect for public trust.”

The organisation further called on Akpabio to ensure that relevant fiscal oversight committees and government agencies are supported in their work to audit public accounts and report discrepancies.

The request for publication of names linked to alleged missing funds comes amid ongoing debates about fiscal transparency and institutional oversight in Nigeria.

Public interest groups have increasingly sought enhanced disclosure of government revenue and expenditure to strengthen accountability.
