ADC Convention Venue Secured in Abuja After Earlier Access Dispute

ADC convention venue secured in Abuja as the African Democratic Congress confirmed a new location for its national convention, following earlier challenges in accessing preferred public venues in the Federal Capital Territory.

The development follows a dispute between the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and authorities in the Federal Capital Territory over access to key public venues, including Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

The party had earlier raised concerns about difficulties in securing a suitable location for its national convention, which is scheduled to hold as part of its internal political processes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, however, maintained that access to facilities such as Eagle Square requires formal application and compliance with established procedures, including payment of required fees.

The ADC confirmed that its convention will now take place at a privately owned facility in Abuja, identified as the Rainbow Event Centre in Garki.

The announcement was made by the party’s mobilisation platform, ADC Vanguard, through its official communication channels, indicating that arrangements had been concluded to ensure the convention proceeds as scheduled.

The new venue is located in Garki Area 8, within the Federal Capital Territory, and is expected to host delegates and party stakeholders for the convention. The confirmation came hours after party representatives raised concerns about the inability to secure both government-owned and some private venues in Abuja.

Despite the earlier challenges, the party reiterated its commitment to proceeding with the convention as planned, stating that it had already notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the event.

The ADC convention venue secured development underscores the importance of logistics and compliance in the organisation of major political events in Nigeria. It also reflects the operational challenges political parties may face in securing venues for large gatherings, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory where access to public infrastructure is regulated.

The development ensures continuity in the party’s internal processes, including leadership decisions and strategic positioning ahead of future elections.
